HareHill's Running Amok
Catdog was Bunny's very first puppy. He was the very first born in her very first litter. He was a breach. Need we say more?
Catdog got his name from a marking on his back. We look for identifying marks on the puppies to tell them apart. He has a mark that looks a the front half of a cartoon dog running. Kurt decided (after a few beers) we should call him "Catdog" after the cartoon character of the same name. We often find ourselves calling him just "Cat".
During his first year, we don't think we ever saw him sit or lay down. He was constantly on the move. Playing. Mostly being a goof.
Wendy attempted to take several photos showing a side-stack. He was posing perfectly. When the camera clicked, he came towards her and stuck his face in the lens before the photo actually took. Our old digital camera was a bit slow. The photo on the right is his "perfect stack".
As a puppy Catdog was the only one who stood up to his mom. He would take toys (and food) away from her - and she let him. We fell in love with his personality and decided he had to stay with us.
He has mellowed quite a bit from his early rambunctious puppy days. He'll often come into the room with a toy to show us. Then he'll grumble with the toy in his mouth - to tell us "look what I've got". By himself, he's calm and easy to live with. But bring his half-sister Reese into the room and the two of them play, play, play.
Reese has really bonded to him. They sleep next to each other and she looks for Cat whenever we take him someplace without her. Even if it's just a walk down to the mailbox. They are best buds.
We haven't entered Cat in a show yet. Conformationally, he is taking much longer to mature than his siblings. Maybe when he's four he'll be ready.
