Ch. Luxor's Playmate Of The Year
Bunny is the top winning Ibizan Hound in U.S. history. She is also our first Ibizan and our first champion. What a way to start!
The Defining Moment
For us, the highlight of Bunny's show career was winning the Hound Group at the 2003 Westminster Dog Show. An Ibizan had never even placed in that Group before. It was totally unexpected and we were totally unprepared.
As judge Carol Reesman passed by the usual suspects (the outstanding hounds that always seem to win or place), she pulled Bunny out. Just to be pulled for consideration in the Group was an honor. We held our breath and thought, maybe a Group 4. That would be great. But when Bunny won the Hound Group, we were more than pleasantly surprised. We were stunned.
The Total Package
Bunny exlemplifies the breed standard. She loves to show and has that "it's all about me" attitude. Some dogs are very sound, but don't like to show. Others love the ring but maybe not quite as good conformationally. Bunny has the total package needed to excel in the show ring. She is a rare, special treat.
Special People

It also takes special people to succeed in the show ring. Expert handling from Clint Livingston brought out Bunny's best and really made her shine. Co-owners Glen Brand and Caroline Woods support was vital and appreciated more than they know. Glen is a close friend and currently specialing Bunny's daughter Zipper, the #1 Ibizan Hound in 2007 and 2008.
Where is she now?
Bunny retired from showing in 2004 after winning the Westminster Hound Group (a second time). She now lives at home in southeastern Wisconsin with her family. She will be nine years old on 5/5/08. Josie is due with her first litter within days of Bunny's birthday. Maybe we'll have several birthdays to celebrate on Cinco de Mayo.
Bunny's Roots
After owning Basenjis for several years, Wendy began looking for a similar but larger breed. Through research, she discoverd the Ibizan Hound and Leslie Lucas, Bunny's breeder. Bunny is out of Ch. Luxor's Shout To The Top (Diva) x Ch. Serqet Castlemaghn Legend (Hogan). Hogan is owned by Elaine Ferguson. Wendy wanted a bitch and Bunny was the only girl in this litter. We are very fortunate have Bunny in our lives.
What's in a name?
Bunny gets her name from the unique Playboy Bunny mark on her back. The mark was visible even when she was just born. Her Westminster notoriety caught the eye of Playboy magazine and she appeared in the June 2004 issue.
